The New York Jets will be without one of their star players for their season finale against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

On Saturday, the team announced that Sauce Gardner would not play during Sunday’s game against the Dolphins.

“The Jets have ruled CB Sauce Gardner OUT against Dolphins,” David Furones of the Sun Sentinal said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Gardner has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the past several weeks. He missed the team’s Week 14 games against the Dolphins, as well.

Gardner was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. During his first two seasons with the team, he was a first-team All-Pro. However, he took a step back this season.

While the Jets don’t have much to play for this week since they have been long eliminated from playoff contention, the Dolphins are still in need of a win to have any chance of making the playoffs.

To make the postseason, the Dolphins need a win and a loss from the Denver Broncos.

With Tua Tagovailoa still out with an injury, the Dolphins will be starting backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, giving the Jets a little bit of a boost despite the loss of Gardner.

We’ll have to see who comes out on top this week.
