The New York Giants have a pretty deep quarterbacks room between Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito, all of whom have experience as starting quarterbacks in the league. But that did not stop the Giants from adding another player this week to add a little bit of depth and competition to the roster.

According to a report from league insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the New York Giants are bringing in former CFL star Nathan Rourke to compete during training camp.

“The #Giants claimed QB Nathan Rourke off waivers from New England, per source. Another new home for the former CFL star,” Pelissero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, Rourke will not be the starting quarterback or even the backup quarterback for the Giants. In fact, it’s a long shot that he would even make the team’s final roster. But his signing still led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Rourke was a star for the BC Lions of the CFL in 2021 and 2022 before spending time with the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He has never appeared in a regular season NFL game.
