It’s no secret that the New England Patriots are in need of help at the quarterback position, and it sounds like the team is committed to solving that problem this offseason through the NFL Draft, but also in free agency.
According to a report from Masslive, the New England Patriots are expected to select a rookie quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft – likely either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, whichever player falls to third on draft night. But in addition, it sounds like the team is also planning to bring in a veteran quarterback.
“Drafting a signal caller is only one step in this process. According to a source, the Patriots plan on signing a veteran free agent quarterback, too. The team is in no rush to start a rookie immediately and could play that veteran if they think it would benefit the younger quarterback to sit for a season,” Masslive reported on Thursday.
As for who that veteran quarterback might be, Masslive reported that both Joe Flacco and Jacoby Brissett are “free agents to watch” given their connections to the new Patriots coaching staff.
We’ll have to see what happens, but it sounds like the team is planning some big offseason moves.
