It’s obvious to anyone who’s paying attention that Mike Vick is in a weird position in Philly. Vick showed some promise early in the season, struggled some and then got hurt in week 8. The backup Nick Foles got his opportunity and made the absolute most of it, getting the Eagles back on track and leading them into the playoffs, making Chip Kelly’s first year in Philadelphia ultimately successful.
Now that Foles has solidified his starting position in Philadelphia, is Vick ready to take on the backup role?
No.
When asked if Saturday’s playoff loss to the Saints would be his last game with Eagles, Vick had this to say to NJ.com:
When asked if he would come back to Philadelphia next season, Vick simply shook his head no.
“I’m still a starter,” Vick said. “I’m not a backup quarterback.”
Which means unless something drastic changes, Vick’s time in Philadelphia is over.
“This very well could be,” Vick said when asked if this was his last game in an Eagles uniform.
Should be an interesting off season. You have to believe that Vick can still find a starting job somewhere in the league.
