Former Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte made it official on Friday that he will no longer be with the Bears organization. Forte took to Instagram to post an emotional message of thanks and sadness aimed at the fans and city of Chicago. The post was actually a little heart-breaking as Forte mentions how he wanted to stay with the organization, but that wasn’t in the Bears plans.
Forte’s message reads:
Despite my wishes, my days as a member of the Chicago Bears have sadly come to an end. I was informed earlier this week from the GM that they will not be attempting to re-sign me in free agency. I will remain forever grateful for my time spent in Chicago and being able to play for an organization with such a rich history. My only regret is not being able to win a Lombardi trophy for the best fans in all of sports. I’m excited about the next chapter of my NFL career. But, Chicago will always be home. God Bless and Bear Down!
There is no doubt Bears fans will look fondly on Forte’s time at Soldier Field, and he will be missed.
There was a little shine lost when Forte followed up the post with this post, but knowing the situation we would do the same thing.
