Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray is headed into his sixth season in the league after he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s still young, obviously, but he’s suddenly one of the most veteran players on the team, especially on the offense.
During a recent press conference, Kyler Murray opened up a little bit about his new role as a seasoned veteran with the team.
“This is the first time I feel like I’m kind of the older guy,’ Murray said according to Darren Urban of the Arizona Cardinals team website.
It’s obviously been a rocky career for Murray as he has dealt with a number of injuries that have kept him sidelined for many games throughout his first five years in the league. But now he’s embracing the path that took him this far and is excited to be healthy this upcoming season.
“It’s the natural maturation of life,” Murray said. “Going into year six, am I excited? Hell yeah, I’m excited. I feel good. Just to be healthy again is a blessing. Yes, I believe in what we can do.”
Murray played just eight games last season and admitted that he wasn’t quite 100 percent healthy when he did return. But it sounds like he’s expected to be totally healthy this year. We’ll have to see how he performs.
