After six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins has decided to go elsewhere for the 2023 NFL season, signing with the Atlanta Falcons when the free agency period officially opened on Wednesday afternoon. But it sounds like he will certainly miss his time in Minnesota.
As Kirk Cousins officially signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday, he said that it was a “bittersweet day” as he’s excited about the future but sad to be leaving the Vikings.
“Today’s a bit of a bittersweet day for me. I’m in Atlanta now and a little later today I’m going to be signing with the Falcons,” Cousins said. “That also means I’ve got to say goodbye to Minnesota and the Minnesota Vikings so that makes it tough.”
Cousins made it clear that there are a lot of people that he will miss as he leave the city and the organization.
“I just want to say thank you,” Cousins said. “You’ve meant so much to my family, and as a result of your impact Minnesota will always hold a special place in the hearts of me and my family.”
It will certainly be a new chapter for Cousins with the Falcons. We’ll have to see how it goes.
