Minnesota Vikings superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson is in the midst of contract negotiations with the Minnesota Vikings as the two sides try to work out the terms of a contract extension that would keep him in Minnesota for the foreseeable future. But the deal isn’t done yet, and Jefferson made a pretty brutal decision as a result.

On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings began organized team activities. But when the team got together, there was one notable absence, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, as Justin Jefferson decided not to attend, presumably due to his contract situation.

“WR Justin Jefferson, who has been in talks with the Vikings regarding a contract extension, was not spotted at the team’s training facility today for the start of organized team activities, per team sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This is obviously pretty brutal news regarding Jefferson for the Vikings as they undoubtedly want to get Jefferson on the practice field as soon as possible, especially considering the team will have a new starting quarterback this upcoming season. And the NFL world had a lot to say as a result.

The team is set to begin mandatory minicamp in a couple of weeks. We’ll have to see whether or not the contract is done by then. If it’s not, it will be interesting to see if Jefferson is present.
