The Washington Commanders selected reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday night, and it sounds like he’s ready to join the team and get to work.
During his post-draft press conference, Jayden Daniels revealed that while the Commanders didn’t outright tell him they would be selecting him, he was “pretty confident based off the conversation that we had that I [would be] able to come here and fit into the Commanders team.”
And now, he is ready to join his new team and help lead the team to more success than it has seen in recent years.
“I’m very confident,” Daniels said according to Pro Football Talk. “Obviously, it’s a new regime there and, you know, I’m excited just to come in and really just change the culture and help the team win in each and every way that I can. Come in, work hard and we’ll see where the course takes itself.”
The team had new ownership last year and now has new general manager Adam Peters and head coach in Dan Quinn. With Daniels arriving as the new quarterback, it’s a fresh start for the team all around.
