Ever since the Philadelphia Eagles suffered their season-ending loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, there have been rumors and reports that superstar center Jason Kelce was planning to retire. But Kelce has not formally announced his decision yet, and it doesn’t sound like the Eagles are going to rush him to do it.
During a recent appearance on PFT Live from the Scouting Combine, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had a pretty clear message for Jason Kelce as he continues to mull his retirement decision, letting him know that the decision does not need to be rushed and the team plans to accommodate him.
“I know this, I don’t think there’s a scenario in any of our minds, starting with [owner Jeffrey Lurie], where Jason plays anywhere else,” Roseman said. “He deserves the time to decide what he wants to do. Obviously we’re gonna accommodate that because he doesn’t need to be rushed on that.”
Obviously, the Eagles would love to have him back next season – he’s been one of the most dominant centers in the history of the game – but they would surely honor him if he chose to retire, as well.
