The Seattle Seahawks have been relatively quiet during free agency, with their biggest (and most important) move being re-signing defensive end Michael Bennett, along with re-signing place kicker Steven Hauschka. Along the way, the Super Bowl champs lost two key contributors on the defensive line — Red Bryant to Jacksonville, Clinton McDonald to Tampa Bay — leaving many to wonder if their pass rush would be as effective moving forward.
Well, it appears they might be alright, as ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Minnesota Vikings stud Jared Allen has reached an agreement with the Seahawks, and could sign a contract today. Allen would be the second marquee Vikings player to head to the Northwest in as many years, following Percy Harvin, who was acquired via trade in 2013. Allen isn’t a run-stuffing behemoth like the dearly-departed Bryant, but his addition doesn’t make the Hawks’ line any less scary.
