Indianapolis Colts young quarterback Anthony Richardson saw his rookie season cut short last year when he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury early in the season. But even though he has already missed time with a significant injury, the Colts want him to keep running.
During a recent interview, Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay made it clear that he does not want Anthony Richardson to stop running just because of the injury from last season as he made it clear that his running ability was a big reason why the team selected him in the first round of the draft in the first place.
“I really don’t,” Irsay said, via Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star. “That tackle that happened, it could happen at any time. It’s a physical game. He has to seize the opportunity to use his feet when he can and protect himself as well. He knows that. At the same time, we drafted him because we know with his feet, he can be dangerous and pick up critical yards at critical times. I think his style is great. We’re just really looking forward to him having a great year throwing and running — certainly more throwing than running.”
We’ll have to see how Richardson balances that running and passing ability this upcoming season.
