Last year, legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady went through a very public divorce from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, ending their 13-year marriage. But following their separation, rumors surfaced that Bundchen was cheating on Brady – and she’s now breaking her silence on the matter.
Shortly after the separation from Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen began spending a lot more time with Jiu-Jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente, who she is now dating. Given that Bundchen knew Valente before she separated with Brady, many speculated that Bundchen had an affair with Valante while still married.
But during a recent interview with the New York Times, Bundchen shut down those rumors, bluntly calling them “a lie.”
“This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful,” Bundchen told the New York Times. “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified.”
Bundchen made it clear that she is indeed dating Valante and did know him before separating from Brady, but she insists she did not have an affair and that their new relationship is built upon their previous friendship.
“This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first,” she said. “It’s very different. It is very honest, and it’s very transparent.”
