New York Giants owner John Mara recently stated that he would support the team using their first-round pick to select a quarterback of the future. But would he potentially support the team trading up in the draft to select a quarterback?
That may be what the team needs to do to potentially be in on UNC product Drake Maye, who is largely expected to go at No. 2 or No. 3 in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
The Giants currently hold the No. 6 pick in the first round of the upcoming draft. So currently, Maye may be a bit outside of the range to potentially be able to select Maye.
Regardless, the Giants organization is seemingly doing its due diligence when it comes to Maye. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the team will be hosting Maye for a workout in the coming days.
The #Giants have a presence here at UNC today but Brian Daboll went to UW to see Michael Penix. Sources say the team will work out and meet with Drake Maye in the coming days. https://t.co/WAUTEiKxZ8

Giants head coach Brian Daboll was also in attendance for the Pro Day of Washington Huskies star Michael Penix Jr. So he could very well be on the team’s radar as well.
Veteran quarterback Daniel Jones has been the team’s starter for each of the last five seasons. But there have been notable struggles from the team under Jones. So they very well may be looking to go in another direction in the future at the quarterback position.
Could this be by potentially moving up for Drake Maye? Only time will tell, but it seems like the team is at least interested in finding out what they have in Maye in the next few days when he visits.
