The Dallas Cowboys shocked the NFL world when they cut running back Ezekiel Elliott, who is widely known as the heart and soul of Dallas’ locker room, even after a brief stint with the New England Patriots. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones explained that the decision was to allow Elliot to sign with a contender at what figures to be the tail-end of his career.

Now, it appears that Elliott has done just that.

Breaking: Former (Cowboys) RB Ezekiel Elliott is signing with the (Chargers), sources tell (NFL on FOX),” reported Jordan Schultz on Monday evening.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“This signing would’ve hit like five years ago. Too bad the game has changed to the point that backs like Zeke don’t fit today’s game,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“They aren’t winning a Super Bowl so there’s that lol,” another fan added.

“WE HAVE THE OHIO STATE DUO OF ZEKE AND DOBBINS BANGGGGG,” one fan added.

“Wow, we saw Kimani Vidal getting chewed on the sideline vs the Raiders…I guess Elliott brings some experience,” added someone else

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of role Elliott has with the Chargers as he figures to be the backup to J.K. Dobbins.
