Rams WR Danny Amendola, who entered Thursday’s NFC West showdown against the Arizona Cardinals second in the NFL with 31 receptions, got things off to a spectacular start with a falling down, one-handed, 44-yard catch on the second play of the game.
Cards DB Patrick Peterson was flagged for pass interference on the play, making it that much more impressive.
But Amendola’s night went downhill from there. He had a couple of drops and left the game in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury after diving for a ball. He did not return.
Amendola, who missed virtually all of last season after dislocating his left elbow in the opener, was caught on TV flinging his helmet into a wall with his left hand while walking down the tunnel, likely en route to an X-ray machine.
