The Cincinnati Bengals are hoping to be a Super Bowl contender this upcoming NFL season, but it sounds like they’re facing a pretty horrible situation regarding two of their star players.

According to a report from Adam Schefter, star defensive end Trey Hendrickson has requested to be traded from the Cincinnati Bengals due to his current contract situation.

“Bengals three-time Pro-Bowl DE Trey Hendrickson has requested to be traded from Cincinnati, per league source. Hendrickson is due to make $15 million this season, and is looking for more long-term security than Cincinnati has been willing to offer,” said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Hendrickson’s trade request comes in addition to a trade request made by star wide receiver Tee Higgins earlier this offseason. Schefter indicates that Higgins still wants to be traded.

“Bengals franchise WR Tee Higgins also has requested to be traded being that there have been no contract talks with the team now in over a year,” Schefter wrote in a follow-up post.

Obviously, this is some pretty horrible news for the Cincinnati Bengals as they try to make a Super Bowl run, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see how the Bengals respond.
