Over the past few years, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Chris Jones has established himself as perhaps the most dominant interior defensive lineman in the entire league. And even though he will now make a lot more money, it doesn’t sound like that’s going to change.
But even though Chris Jones now has an absolutely massive contract that sets his future in stone with the team for the next five years, that doesn’t mean that he’s going to approach the game any differently.
“I just chase greatness. I don’t think that’ll change,” Jones said according to Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star. “No amount of money can change my love and passion for the game of football. No matter how successful I’ll be, I’m always chasing greater heights. So I think the Chiefs understand and see my perspective of the game and how much I love the game of football.”
Jones is now returning to the Chiefs as they try to win their third consecutive Super Bowl title. No team in NFL history has ever managed to win three in a row. So trying to accomplish that feat would certainly be chasing greatness, as Jones describes.
