In Week Seven of the upcoming NFL season, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton will return to New Orleans for the first time since parting ways with the New Orleans Saints following the 2021 season. And it sounds like his former players want to give him a not-so-warm welcome back.
During a recent press conference, longtime New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan, who spent the first 11 seasons of his NFL career playing for Payton in New Orleans, admitted that he will be a little extra motivated for that game when it comes around, saying “we have to win that game.”
“It’s not like I’ve circled it on a calendar and marked it down, but it feels like we have to win that game. Everybody knows who Sean Payton is. Can’t let him. Can’t let him do that one,” Jordan said according to NewOrleans.Football.
The good news for everyone hoping to watch the potential revenge game is that it will be broadcast nationally in primetime as that game is slated to be one of the NFL’s Thursday Night Football games this upcoming season.
We’ll have to see whether or not Jordan is able to keep his word and the Broncos go home disappointed.
