Brandon Spikes is at the center of a hit-and-run investigation after his Mercedes was found abandoned on a Foxboro highway Sunday morning.
According to police, the owner of a 2011 Mercedes Maybach told an OnStar navigation operator that he hit a deer. State troopers found the vehicle abandoned on I-495 with damage to the front end, but no deer in sight. Around this same time, a family consisting of a 51-year-old man, 32-year-old-woman and 12-year-old boy reported being struck by a car from behind and were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
No charges have been filed, and police are still trying to make a connection between the two incidents.
Spikes played for New England from 2010 to 2013 before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2014. He re-signed with the Patriots during this offseason.
