Anthony Richardson was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and was immediately made the starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, but he suffered a bit of a setback when he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury early in the season. But it sounds like he’s on pace for a smooth recovery to be ready by next season.
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen recently gave a pretty significant update on the team’s young starting quarterback, indicating that he’s making “great progress” as he gets ready to return.
“He’s been here, he’s been in Florida doing his rehab,” Steichen said according to Kevin Hickey of USA Today. “But he’s making great progress. You guys have seen obviously through social media, he’s throwing. I’m not going to put a timetable on his return, but he’s in great spirits, feeling good. Obviously, going through stuff but he’s making really, really good progress.”
It’s not clear whether or not Richardson will be ready to return to action by the time spring workouts roll around, but it’s clear that his recovery is going smoothly and the team is excited to get him back.
Richardson flashed in moments in his limited action last season. The Colts will obviously be hoping he picks up right where he left off in 2024.
