The Cincinnati Bengals just made 4th-year QB Andy Dalton a very rich man. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan, the team and Dalton agreed on a massive 6-year, $115 million contract.

After expressive confidence last week that he’d receive a new contract, the former TCU Horned Frog made it official on Monday. He has a career record of 30-18 during his first three seasons in Cinci but his teams have gone one-and-done in the playoffs each year.

The contract will surely draw comparisons to deals that Jay Cutler (7-year, $126.7 million) and Colin Kaepernick (6-year, $126 million) signed recently. Many will even point to the mega deal signed by the Ravens Joe Flacco following their Super Bowl win two years ago at 6-years, $120.6 million.

Dalton set career-highs last season in almost every statistical category, including TDs (33), passing yards (4,293)  and passer rating (88.9) but still managed to commit 23 turnovers.

It will be interesting to see the reaction from Bengals fans, many of which do not believe Andy Dalton is the future face of the franchise. These fans included those that hung anti-Dalton, pro-McCarron signs at training camp last week.
