San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk is still under contract for one more season with the organization. But that seemingly isn’t stopping him from reaching out to other coaches on social media.
Aiyuk has played a big role in the 49ers success over the past few seasons, recording back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the organization.
Alongside Deebo Samuel, the duo has been one of the most feared wide receiving corps in all of football, not to mention the fact that they have been instrumental in the development of second-year quarterback Brock Purdy.
Despite all this, it seems like Aiyuk may want to find a new home when his contract is up with the team, or perhaps even sooner. In a now-deleted social media post, Aiyuk seemingly hinted at wanting to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers under Mike Tomlin.

To be fair, the two actually do look a bit alike. So this tweet could be much more innocent than it seems, actually asking him whether he believes that they look alike.
However, many around the NFL world viewed this tweet entirely differently, as they thought Aiyuk may be gauging interest in potentially playing for Tomlin in Pittsburgh.

Aiyuk potentially becoming a Steeler should certainly at least be enticing to Pittsburgh fans. It has been an extremely promising offseason for the team, making a big upgrade at the quarterback position with their signing of Russell Wilson.
Pairing Wilson with an elite-level receiver like Aiyuk would be a huge step in the Steelers returning as a real contender in the AFC.
Whether it ends up happening or not obviously remains to be seen. But if you are a 49ers fan, you should certainly be concerned by this development.
