After William & Mary lost their chance for the first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history on Monday night, St. Francis Brooklyn was trying to grab their first berth on Tuesday night. Both schools are among the infamous group of five original NCAA Division-I members that have never reached the tourney and both schools had good enough teams this season to remove themselves from the list.
First, it’s a little embarrassing that CBS actually thinks your school is giving birth instead of playing basketball:
Second, in the closing seconds of the Northeastern Conference final against Robert Morris, Terriers’ guard Tyreek Jewell was fouled on a game-tying 3-point attempt. He would visit the line for a chance to tie the game and put them in great position to extend the game and finally grab the mythical BERTH.
Unfortunately things went very, very poorly at the line. Jewell would miss the first two and even botched the intentional miss by missing the rim:
You have to feel for Jewell, the St. Francis team and the entire school that was anticipating a trip to the dance.
