High school basketball recruits choose colleges for a variety of reasons, many of which focus on a coach or program’s history of developing elite talent. John Calipari and Kentucky fit both of those molds as both he and the UK program is known for churning out big-time player, including Chicago Bulls guard Derek Rose, who played for Calipari at Memphis and not Kentucky. But don’t tell 5-star recruit Isaiah Briscoe that.
The 10th-rated player in the 2015 Rivals150 was interviewed during this week’s McDonald’s All-American Game and was asked why he chose Kentucky over a slew of other programs.
