Almost a year following a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s disease, Pat Summitt stepped down as Tennessee’s women’s basketball coach on Wednesday. Her career and legacy will not soon be forgotten and to say her 38-year career was spectacular would be an understatement. On Wednesday the University of Tennessee released a statement announcing Summitt’s retirement and the promotion to head coach for longtime assistant, Holly Warlick. Today, Pat Summitt held an emotional press conference to say goodbye. In true Pat Summitt fashion, it was class all the way.
