Fenway Park is hosting it’s first of two outdoor college hockey double-headers this January, with Boston College and Notre Dame getting the main event honors on Saturday night.
While Providence and Merrimack’s matchup earlier in the day didn’t get too exciting until late in the third period, BC and Notre Dame got off to a thrilling start. Early in the first period, Irish defenseman and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Stephen Jones laid a vicious hit on the Eagles’ Quinn Smith.
The hit had enough power to send Smith head over heels before crashing to the ice. Probably the biggest hit at Fenway since David Ortiz’s game-tying grand slam in the ALCS.
