Tonight’s Frozen Four matchup between Minnesota and North Dakota was pretty much everything you could ask for from a game with a shot at a national title on the line. The contest was a goalie duel for two and a half periods, then featured some back and forth strikes in the final 10 minutes.
Ultimately, the game’s final strike came from Minnesota when Gophers senior defenseman Justin Holl managed to score a short-handed tally with less than a second remaining on the clock. As you can see in the video above and GIF below, Holl was able to kick a deflected shot to the blade of his stick and rifle a shot past Zane Gothberg in stunning fashion.
The goal, his first of the season, pushed Minnesota past NoDa and into the championship game, where they’ll face Union College on Saturday.
