This wild scene unfolded at the end of the second annual Mayor’s Cup between Union and RPI on Saturday. At the conclusion of RPI’s 2-1 win, players and coaches from both sides hopped the benches and engaged in a crazy brawl that ultimately landed four players with suspensions from the NCAA.
It looked like the whole thing started when a union defenseman cross-checked a player from RPI in the neck immediately after the game’s final faceoff, prompting an physical altercation between both players.
My favorite part of the brawl comes at the 0:25 second mark when two players get locked up and throw a few punches before just giving up, smiling and skating away. Hockey.
