A college baseball player for Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania was dismissed by his team this weekend following a tweet he sent in which he blasted former LLWS star Mo’Ne Davis.
Joey Casselberry, a (former) pitcher for Bloomsburg, tweeted this on Friday night after finding out that the Disney Channel was planning on making a movie about the female standout from Philly:
Yeah, maybe not the best terminology to use when you’re a student-athlete talking about a 13 or 14 year old girl. Dumbass.
As you can imagine, Bloomsburg was none too pleased upon finding out about the tweet, which – along with Casselberry’s entire account – has since been deleted. This was the university’s official statement:
Bloomsburg Univ is deeply saddened by what was written about #MoneDavis by one of our student-athletes. His words do not represent us.

We take matter very seriously; addressed the issue with the student-athlete (who has been dismissed from team), coach, and the team.
