Very few people could have predicted the level of NBA success that Steph Curry would have achieved even five years ago, let alone 20 years ago. The 2015 MVP had the NBA genes from his father, Dell, but was never considered an elite hoops prospect, receiving very few D1 looks as a youngster and it wasn’t until he lit up the 2008 NCAA Tournament that the basketball world starting taking notice of the son of the former NBA player.
And the funny thing is that some people might have been projecting a brighter NBA future for a 4-year-old Steph than when he was a 3-star recruit rolling into Davidson in 2007. At 4 years old, he was roaming locker rooms with his father, who played for the Jazz, Cavaliers, Hornets, Bucks and Raptors from 1986-2002. It was during his 10 years in Charlotte when someone took a 1992 video of Steph getting an airplane ride from Dell’s teammate, Muggsy Bogues, and it is awesome:
