Monty Williams should never have said it. The Pelicans coach should never have gone there but he did and he was dealt an appropriate reaction. Following his team’s Game 1 loss to the Warriors, during which the Oracle Arena crowed was more raucous than ever, Williams decided to give the fans even more reason to be loud for Game 2, saying that the noise almost “out of control”.
As a result, fans serenaded him throughout Game 2 on Monday and brought an incredible amount of heat. As if the noise level wasn’t enough to get under the skin of Williams, apparently some fans left ear plugs for him. I suppose that’s what you get for complaining about noise level at a sporting event.
