Trae Young is in some very elite company.
Young balling out against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday posting a ridiculous stat line with 35 points and 11 assists on 13-23 shooting including hitting six three-pointers. The performance was historic, as Young became the fifth rookie ever with a 35 point, 10 assist game, joining Steph Curry, LeBron James, Allen Iverson, and Jason Kidd – not a bad group to be a part of.

The Atlanta Hawks made a very curious decision on draft day when they opted to select 20-year-old Oklahoma guard Trae Young third overall. The move was panned since Luka Doncic – arguably the surest thing in the draft – was passed over for a small, trigger-happy scorer. While Doncic has been awesome for the Dallas Mavericks, Young has done everything needed to prove doubters wrong. There’s no question he can score in this league and be an elite passer as well.
The Steph Curry comparisons might have seemed silly on draft day, but Young is literally performing on the same level early in the NBA season. For Hawks fans, that’s got to be extremely encouraging.
