Today’s edition of “What Dumb Personnel Move Will The Sacramento Kings Try Next” features a shocking twist: it appears the Sacramento Kings will not be trading the #6 pick in next week’s draft for Ty Lawson. The Denver Nuggets point guard, who flourished under George Karl in the Mile High City, has been the center of trade rumors as everyone around the league expects the Nuggets to blow things up and start over. The most-talked about landing spot has been Sacramento, where Karl is now the head coach (ironically, ex-Kings coach/DeMarcus Cousins BFF Mike Malone is the Nuggets’ new coach). Apparently, reports of Lawson’s trade value were greatly exaggerated.
The talk of Lawson to SAC for #6. I thought it was reasonable. Two GM’s laughed at me, hurt my feelings type of laughter. Ty stock is low…

The Kings’ position on Lawson was confirmed by Chad Ford in an ESPN chat.
First off, let’s congratulate the Kings on not doing something stupid. Second…wait, what’s that?
Per Joe Kotoch of @sheridanhoops, #Nuggets & #Kings have engaged in trade talks involving Boogie Cousins for Ty Lawson & Kenneth Faried.

Now, there’s a 99.99% chance that rumor is totally bogus, but I’ll leave the door open a smidge just because it’s the Kings. At this point, I’m not putting anything past Vivek.
