Phil Jackson was on Fox Sports Live, where he answered questions about former and current NBA players on who would win in epic one-on-one battles. The hosts work up to the big question, “Who would win in a one-on-one game between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan?” Jackson then shares an anecdote from one of the first times Kobe and His Airness met. In 1999 during MJ’s second retirement, Phil asked Jordan to speak to Kobe after a Lakers game because he was surprising forcing his game. “Let’s meet in the chairman’s room after the game, I want you to talk to Kobe a little,” Jackson asked Jordan. “I think if you convince him (Kobe) to just wait, just be patient allow the game to come to him … because the team kind of loses their offensive direction.” As the greatest player entered the room, Kobe greeted him by saying, ‘I could kick your ass one-on-one.’ Ladies and gentlemen, the shy and humble Kobe Bryant. Jackson went on to say that Jordan would indeed beat Bryant in a game of one-on-one.
