Maybe it was an elbow that Bucks guard O.J. Mayo threw at Pelicans big man Greg Stiemsma, after the two players got tangled up in a screen and Mayo took what appeared to be an unintentional shot to the head from Stiemsma.
Maybe it was a punch.
Whatever the case, it drilled Stiemsma in the throat, and you can’t (deliberately) do that. So, Mayo was of course ejected from Friday night’s game and surely has a suspension coming his way as well.
Not that the Bucks’ front office would have any issue with a Mayo suspension, as key Bucks players missing time would only help the organization’s tanking efforts. Milwaukee currently holds a 12-49 record (good for a sexy .197 winning percentage), giving them the NBA’s worst record by three games, and the inside track for the most ping-pong balls in the 2014 NBA Lottery.
