On Monday night, the Boston Celtics clinched the 2024 NBA Championship with a win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The victory was quite historic for the Celtics as it gave them more NBA Championships than any other franchise in the history of the league, and Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson was not exactly happy about it.
Shortly after the conclusion of Monday night’s game, Magic Johnson took to social media to express his displeasure that the rival Boston Celtics now have more NBA Championships than the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now,” Johnson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Johnson did his part as a player to help the Lakers claim the top spot on the list of all-time championships, helping lead the team to NBA titles in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1988. He also helped guide the team to eight NBA Championships as a part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Clearly, the Celtics have now overtaken the Lakers as the most accomplished franchise in the history of the league. We’ll have to see if the Lakers can challenge them for that spot in the near future.
