Chicago Bulls head coach and Team USA assistant coach Tom Thibodeau said this week that he hopes to convince Kobe Bryant to play for the Americans in the 2016 Olympic Games.
When asked about the prospect of playing in the 2016 Summer Games, Kobe – who was a key player on the 2012 Team USA that beat Spain in the gold medal game – shot down the idea but delivered a great quote (and a solid jab at Spanish teammate Pau Gasol) while doing so.
I personally still won’t count Kobe out for the 2016 Olympics. Despite the fact that he’s struggling with injuries and will turn 38 shortly after the 2016 Games come to a close, it’s never a good idea to underestimate the Mamba’s competitiveness.
