During his emotional and excellent MVP speech last year, Kevin Durant was touchingly praising his mother when he uttered the simple but wonderfully apt phrase, “You’re the real MVP.”
Of course, because that was the highlight of the speech, the internet took it and proceeded to meme the shit out of “You’re the real MVP” until it lost all meaning.
Now, as Kevin Durant fully embraces his takes-no-bullshit personality, he’s letting everyone know what he thinks about all of the “You the real MVP” memes. Turns out, KD’s not a fan as he expressed in an interview with GQ:
“I was like, man, that was a real emotional moment for me, and you making a joke about it!” he said in a feature that will appear in the March 2015 issue of the magazine. “Damn. Y’all don’t really believe in shit. You don’t have no morals or nothing. You don’t care about nothing but just making fun…I was serious as hell saying that, you know what I’m saying?”
So, there you have it. Kevin Durant would like it if everyone stopped with the “You the Real MVP” memes. And as well all know, when someone asks the internet to stop doing something, the internet is well-known for compassionately complying with the request.
