It seems like it’s been forever since Jason Richardson has made a memorable play within 15 feet of the rim, but last night, the Philadelphia 76ers guard turned back the clock to the early aughts with this breakaway 360 throwdown. That’s right, kiddies, there was a time when J-Rich was the heir apparent to Vinsanity, winning back-to-back Slam Dunk contests — his 2003 showdown with Desmond Mason is criminally underrated — and thus being directly responsible for no fewer than 435 Magic Johnson “the dunk contest is back!” proclamations.
Nowadays, Old Man Richardson — okay, he’s only 31, it just seems like he’s 40 — is almost strictly a jump shooter, but perhaps he got a little inspiration from 56-year-old Marques Johnson last week?
