Things got a little interesting in the second half of Tuesday’s NBA nightcap between the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings. The Suns held a double-digit lead in the third quarter, before Sacramento came storming back to win 107-104 behind a 27-point, 12-rebound performance by DeMarcus Cousins. However, the highlight plays of the game came from two players you’d most expect highlight plays from, Suns wing man Gerald Green and Kings rookie Ben McLemore, who re-confirmed their status as two of the NBA’s greatest leapers.
First, there was Green, who got insane hang time before throwing it down in the vicinity of Cousins (who wanted no part of that poster), putting the Suns up 79-66 midway through the third quarter. Not to be outdone, McLemore drove down the lane a minute later, splitting two defenders for a tomahawk slam that ignited the crowd (and the home team).
When Sacramento finally pulled within two with less than two minutes to play, the camera panned to Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson, who was celebrating the comeback-win-in-the-making by playing some mean air piano.
