David Stern presided over his final NBA Board of Governors meeting this week, the highlight of which was approving a switch in the NBA Finals format from 2-3-2 back to 2-2-1-1-1, along with approximately zero discussion regarding an NBA team in Seattle. After all the business was attended to, NBA owners gathered for a (likely) very fancy dinner in Manhattan, during which each guest was presented with a David Stern bobblehead doll — a parting gift honoring the outgoing commissioner.
The doll’s were the brainchild of incoming commissioner Adam Silver, and the design led to a decent zinger from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert:
At retirement dinner 2nite NBAgave us Stern bobblehead but it’s defective.Head moved up&down instead of side to side!
