At least one source is reporting that tonight’s match-up between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics will not — rather, should not, if security does their job — feature boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios, in what would be obvious efforts to mock Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony. If you recall the previous meeting between the two teams, Anthony and Kevin Garnett tangled multiple times during the game, which led to Anthony waiting by the Celtics bus to confront the trash-talking Garnett.
Allegedly, that trash talk included a dig at Anthony’s wife, LaLa Vasquez, who Garnett claimed “tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios”. This didn’t go over so well with Anthony, but the exact opposite could be said about Celtics fans, who probably couldn’t wait to show up to TD Garden tonight with cereal boxes in tow. Alas, it appears the Fun Police anticipated such antics, and put the kibosh on the whole thing.
. @tdgarden security staffer tells me that they are NOT allowing individuals to enter arena with Honey Nut Cheerios boxes. #Celtics#Knicks
