Charles Barkley took a break from being annoyed by Shaquille O’Neal the TNT studio Thursday night to go spend some time with the big ol’ gals of San Antonio — and Kevin Harlan and Chris Webber. It was Barkley’s last NBA-related appearance for awhile, as Turner’s A-Team (sans Shaq) switches to March Madness coverage for the next three weeks. As usual, Chuck was full of jokes all night, at one point even claiming that Andrew Toney was the best player he ever played with (reminder: Chuck also played with Dr. J and Moses Malone in Philly, a point Kenny Smith made after the game).
Anyway, his shining moment was attempting to pronounce Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova’s name as the broadcast went to commercial. Question: where does “Della Reese” rank in the pantheon of unexpected name drops in NBA history?
