The Golden State Warriors are set to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1975.
That 1975 squad went on to win the NBA Championship in a clean four game sweep of the Washington Bullets. The series concluded on May 25th and Rick Barry was named the Finals MVP. Since then, it’s been a forty year drought since Golden State made it to the final round of the NBA playoffs.
To put those forty years into proper perspective, we’ve compiled ten sports and pop culture events that occurred all the way back in 1975, when the Warriors would be crowned champs and Gerald Ford was president.
If you recognize most of these events, you’re probably an Old.
1. January 6th, 1975 – “Wheel of Fortune” debuts on television for NBC.
