All eyes were on Oakland Athletics reliever Pat Venditte on Friday vs. the Boston Red Sox.
Venditte was called up from Triple-A and took the mound in the seventh inning. First, as a left-hander, he forced Brock Holt to ground out. Then, he switched to his right hand to face Hanley Ramirez and Mike Napoli. Ramirez singled, but he got Napoli to ground into a double play. He went on to pitch a scoreless eighth inning as well.
