Rick Ankiel caught a Carlos Lee popup in shallow center and proceeded to throw a laser throw to home to prevent a sac fly in the sixth. The throw made it to home plate on the tag side and on the fly. Astros leadoff man Jordan Schafer was on third and didn’t even think twice about tagging up and heading for home. Note to base runners; do not run on Ankiel.
“That was a good one,” Ankiel said following the game. “I mean, I was surprised. It’s one of their fastest guys on their team, with the bases loaded, I thought for sure he was going. Ball was in the air and I’m like ‘He’s gotta go.’ But hey, it shows a lot of respect that they didn’t, so, yeah, it makes me feel good.”
