On May 6, 1998 Kerry Wood joined Roger Clemens as the only pitcher to notch 20 strikeouts in a 9 inning game. He is also the last to accomplish the feat. He also did it as a rookie. Some say Wood’s 20K game is the best pitching performance of all-time. They are probably right.
Wood’s career was unfortunately derailed by injuries, so we never got to see the real Kid K. But damn, this is a masterpiece.
