There was a magical moment last night at Yankee Stadium when Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte walked onto the mound to make the greatest pitching change of all-time. The two legendary Yankees took out Mariano Rivera in his final home game of his Hall of Fame career. However did this special moment violate MLB rules?
Major League Baseball Rule 3.17:
It specifically states that “Disabled players are not allowed to enter the playing surface at any time or for any purpose during the game.” Derek Jeter is currently on the Disabled List. Somehow I don’t think Bud Selig is about to suspend Derek Jeter any time soon.
