Cleveland Indians starter Justin Masterson had a masterful outing to halt the Red Sox win streak at seven games last night, tossing seven innings and allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out 10 batters.

Three of those strikeouts came in the fourth inning, when Masterson set down Jonny Gomes, Grady Sizemore and Stephen Drew each on three pitches – striking out the side on a total of nine pitches. That feat was just an example of Masterson’s control and precision on the night – at one point, he threw 25 consecutive strikes – in the Indians’ 3-2 victory over the Sox.
